United Kingdom: Sam Ryder confirmed for Eurovision 2022 with “Space man”

Finally the rumors have been true and Sam Ryder will be the British act at the Eurovision Song Contest 2022 with the song “Space man”. That song was released end of February, and since them the speculations about that song as the British entry in Turin were growing day by day.

Announcement was done by Scott Mills, British commentator of Eurovision semi-finals during the BBC Radio 1 program Breakfast with Greg james. The selection of the singer was done by BBC Studio alongside the record company, TAP Music, well-know for its work with famous music stars as Dua Lipa or Elton John.

Sam Ryder became popular in 2020 when posted his first covers of well-know songs on his social media, caughting the attention of famous artists as Elton John, and participating in programs as The Ellen show or BBC Newsbeat. As the content increased on his social media so did his followers reaching the number of 10 million by the end of the year. In 2021 his TikTok was the most popular in the UK for the second year in a row and currently counts with a number of around 12 million of followers.

Sam Ryder will take part in the Grand Final of the Eurovision Song Contest 2022, as the United Kingdom representative, on 14th May.
