Cyprus: Andromache will be the Cypriot representative in Turin with “Ela“
Cypriot broadcaster, RIK, has announced today who will be its act at the Eurovision Song Contest 2022. As we informed some days ago (see the post here), that act is the singer and songwriter Andromache. She will perform the song “Ela“ that you can listen from here. On 11th March the song will be avaiable
on legal digital platforms, the same day of the official premiere on Youtube .
27 years old, Andromache Dimitropoulou, AKA Andromache, born in Mannheim (Germany) with Greek roots, but with ten years she moved to Greece. After to study German philosophy, she started to sing in music scenes of Lechaina, Elis and Gazi (Athens). She is well-known since 2015 when she participated in the second season of “The Voice of Greece”. Since her first single, “To feggari“, in 2017, she has released many popular singles, as the sucessful “Na soun psema“, with almost 5 million views. Currently is part of the artists of the Panik Records label.
“Ela“ has been created by a team of worldwide distinguished composers led by Alex Papaconstantinou (Alex P.) and comprising of: Arash, Eyelar Mirzazadeh, Fatjon Miftaraj, Filloreta Raci Fifi, Giorgos Papadopoulos, Robert Uhlman, Viktor Svensson, Yll Limani and Geraldo Sandell. Among the songs composed by Alex “P” for Eurovision are “La La Love“ (Ivi Adamou, Cyprus 2012), “Fuego“ (Eleni Foureira, Cyprus 2018) or “Replay“ (Tamta, Cyprus 2019). Arash was the Azeri representative in Eurovision 2009 and was one of the composers of his song, “Always“, where taken part also Alex P.
The staging of “Ela“ will be created by Marvin Dietmann and Dan Shipton. Dietman has worked in that role for several countries in the contest during the last years, as the winner song in Eurovision 2014, “Rise like a phoenix“, performed by Conchita Wurst. In 2021 he directed the staging of Spain, Bulgaria, Croatia, Austria, Czech Republic, Estonia and Cyprus. Dan Shipton has been Creative Director for the United Kingdom between 2016 and 2018, working with Dietmann at the 2021 contest.
Andromache, as Cypriot representative, will compete at the Eurovision Song Contest 2022 in the first half of the second semi-final, on 12th May.
