Finland has chosen its representative at the Eurovision Song Contest 2022. The Rasmus band will be that representative after the victory in the national final, UMK 2022 with “Jezebel”.
The veteran band was the favorite on the International jury voting (Germany, Spain, Italy, Cyprus, Norway, Serbia and Czech Republic) and the televoting. After The Rasmus the second place was for Cyan Kicks with “Hurricane” and in the third place Bess with “Ram pam pam”.
Final results (jury + televoting):
- The Rasmus – “Jezebel” (68+242 = 310 points. 1st place)
- Isaac Sene – “Kuuma jäbä” (28+99 = 127 points. 5th place)
- Olivera – “Thank God I’m an Atheist” (46+121 = 167 points.4th place)
- BESS – “Ram pam pam” (56+148 = 240 points. 3rd place)
- Younghearted – “Sun numero” (40 + 51 = 91 points. 6th place)
- Cyan Kicks – “Hurricane” (52+169 = 221 points. 2nd place)
- Tommi Läntinen – “Elämä kantaa mua” (4 + 52 = 56 points. 7th place)
The Rasmus band, formed in 1994 in Helsinki, is well-known for the song “In the shadows”. Released in 2003, the single became a International hit, topping the charts in Europe, North America and New Zealand. The ban has released nine studio albums, four of which went to number 1 on the Finnish album charts. Lauri Ylönen (vocals), Eero Heinonen (bass), Aki Hakala (drums) and Emilia Suhonen (guitar) are the members.
