Ukraine: Kalush Orchestra will be in Turin to compete in Eurovision 2022

According to the national broadcaster, Suspilne, the Ukrainian Goverment has allowed Kalush Orchestra to leave the country and attend to the Eurovision Song Contest 2022. The members of the band have met for the first time after the Russian invasion at a concert held in the Market Square of Lviv.

Kalush Orchestra not only will be in Turin as the Ukrainian act but also in several promotional concerts around Europe. As has said Oleg Psyuk, lead singer of the band, the plan is raise funds to aid in the reconstruction of Ukraine.

With our speeches we want to raise funds for the reconstruction of Ukrainian cities affected by the war. Many mass events dedicated to Eurovision are taking place now. At all events where we will be able to take part, we will call for the support of the Fund for the Restoration of Property and Destroyed Infrastructure of our country

Recently, and due to the current situation, EBU and the host broadcaster, RAI, have exempted to Suspilne from the requirements to film a live-on-tape performance for the contest. If Kalush Orchestra can’t travel to Turin or attend to the rehearsals, its performance during the national final will be aired as the band performance in the semi-final.

Kalush Orchestra will compete with the song “Stefania” in the 6th place of the first semi-final of the Eurovision Song Contest 2022, on 10th May.
