Ukraine: Jamala thrills during her performance in the German final

This friday, Germany held the national final “Germany 12 points”, where Malik Harris was chosen as its act at the Eurovision Song Contest 2022.

With several Eurovision 2022 artists participating in the show as guests, one of the most waited was Jamala that performed her winner song in Eurovision 2016 ,“1944”. The lyrics of the song, based in the forced expulsion of the Tartars from Crimea, ordered by Stalin, takes a new significance after the invasion of Ukraine by the Russian forces.

Very excited Jamala got the stage accompained of an Ukrainian flag that she held during the performance, with the public stood all the time as a sign of respect to her and to the people of Ukraine. Also the illuminated tree of the background , similar to used by her in Eurovision 2016, added this time in the last part of the song, several peace doves crossing that tree, as a request to the peace in the country.

Recently was known that Jamala had flee from Ukraine with her childrens due of the invasion. A travel of the four days that she tell on her instagram account. Taking advantage of her stay in Germany and Romania to participate in the national finals, has organized two special charity events in these countries to raise fund to help her country.
