Τη μέρα που πολλοί περίμεναν να ανακοινωθεί η πόλη και οι ημερομηνίες διεξαγωγής της Eurovision 2019, η βρετανική εφημερίδα Guardian δημοσίευσε μία επιστολή την οποία υπογράφουν πρώην Eurostars, καλλιτέχνες που έλαβαν μέρος σε εθνικούς τελικούς και άλλα γνωστά πρόσωπα από το χώρο της μουσικής, ζητώντας από τις δημόσιες ραδιοτηλεοράσεις της Ευρώπης γενικευμένο μποϊκοτάζ από τη Eurovision 2019, που θα διεξαχθεί τον επόμενο Μάιο στο Ισραήλ.
Μεταξύ αυτών που υπογράφουν είναι ο νικητής του διαγωνισμού το 1994 Charlie McGettigan, οι DAAM (πολύ γνωστό συγκρότημα από το Βέλγιο), οι Wolf Alice (διάσημο βρετανικό συγκρότημα), ο παγκοσμίου φήμης μουσικός παραγωγός Brian Eno, αλλά και το μέλος των Pink Floyd’s Roger Waters.
Η Eurovision 2019 πρέπει να μποϋκοταριστεί εάν φιλοξενηθεί στο Ισραήλ, που συνεχίζει τις σοβαρές, παραβιάσεις των παλαιστινιακών ανθρωπίνων δικαιωμάτων. Κατανοούμε ότι η EBU απαιτεί από το Ισραήλ να βρει μια “μη διχαστική” τοποθεσία για να διοργανώσει τη Eurovision του 2019 . Θα πρέπει όμως να ακυρώσει το διαγωνισμό στο Ισραήλ συνολικά και να τον μεταφέρει σε άλλη χώρα όπου γίνεται σεβασμός των ανθρωπίνων δικαιωμάτων. Η αδικία διχάζει, ενώ ο σεβασμός των ανθρωπίνων δικαιωμάτων ενώνει.
Η δημοσίευση της επιστολής αυτής ίσως να είναι και ο λόγος που καθυστερεί η ανακοίνωση της πόλης που θα φιλοξενήσει του χρόνου το διαγωνισμό, την στιγμή που τα ισραηλινά μμε αναφέρουν ότι το Τελ Αβίβ έχει ήδη επιλεγεί από την EBU και την δημόσια τηλεόραση της χώρας ΚΑΝ. Όπως σας ενημερώσαμε και με προηγούμενο άρθρο μας, η EBU, διέψευσε αυτά τα δημοσιεύματα με ανακοίνωση της, κάτι που δεν συνήθιζε να κάνει σε ανάλογες περιπτώσεις.
